For A Rainy Day

Give me your lantern and compass, give me a map, So I can find my way to the sacred mountain, to the place of your presence, To enter the place of worship, meet my exuberant God, Sing my thanks with a harp, magnificent God, my God. Why are you down in the dumps, dear soul? Why are you crying the blues? Fix my eyes on God— soon I'll be praising again. He puts a smile on my face. He's my God. Psalm 43:4-5 (The Message)

That scripture makes me want to shout for joy. The writer speaks of searching for His presence, almost as if he is on a journey to find the presence of the Lord. And as I looked further into this passage, I found a reason to make the journey, because when you find the presence of the Lord you will find that He is an exuberant God.

Look at these definitions of exuberant:

1. effusively and almost uninhibitedly enthusiastic; lavishly abundant: an exuberant welcome for the hero.

2. abounding in vitality; extremely joyful and vigorous.

3. extremely good; overflowing; plentiful: exuberant health.

4. profuse in growth or production; luxuriant; superabundant: exuberant vegetation.

That is my God and much more. Speak to your soul today! Do not fall into depression on this rainy day. We serve a Big God, an Exuberant God, it is all in His hands and He will work it out.

So this I must ask you today? Why are you down in the dumps, dear beloved? Why are you crying the blues? Fix your eyes on God— soon you will be praising again. He will put a smile on your face. He is your God.
